Under the artistic direction of Kyle Knox, WYSO offers a comprehensive range of programs, including three full orchestras, two string orchestras, chamber music ensembles, a harp program, a percussion ensemble, a brass choir, and the WYSO Music Makers program. These initiatives foster a community where young musicians can collaborate, learn, and grow, cultivating discipline, perseverance, and teamwork.
In 2023, WYSO opened the WYSO Center for Music at 1118 East Washington Avenue in Madison. This 40,085-square-foot facility unites all our programs under one roof, featuring state-of-the-art rehearsal halls, studios, practice rooms, administrative offices, and a music library. The design, inspired by the curves of musical instruments, provides an inspiring environment for our musicians and the broader community.
The WYSO Center for Music represents our commitment to expanding instrumental music education and performance opportunities for young people of diverse backgrounds. By offering a space that encourages creativity and excellence, we aim to inspire the next generation of musicians and ensure that the joy of music remains a vibrant part of our community.
